Multi-media Inspirational Art
Photography, Prose & Poetry

Welcome to R.S.Westeren Studio & Gallery. The thinking and the creative steps in creating the art of  Roger Westeren comes to life in this blog. Multi-media, poetry, prose, jottings, carvings, paintings and photography bringing a look at ourselves and the world we live in a odd and unique manner.

At age 55 I decided to embrace my artist side of life. With camera in hand I now look for the beauty of our world and capture it digitally. For the most part the pictures you will see are what I saw when taking them. Some minor editing such as cropping will be done but no photoshop mechanics. Many times while taking a picture I see a story or a statement that is reflected in the vision. Whether you call my writing prose, poetry or as I call it "jottings" it is straight from the heart.

Art is the way you look at life, I use poetry, prose and ramblings (I call "Jottings") to envokes feelings and emotons through words. My first published work was called "Grandfather's Chair", a photograph of a metal chair with a hose lying next to it at my sisters house in La provoked memories of my Grandfather. A stolic man who I wished I had paid more attention to as a youth.

I hope this blog will be a avenue for my readers and for me to share feelings and visions of natural art in this world.

I Bid You Peace
Roger

Staying Home for CORVID19

All in all we are handling the stay at home reasonably well. It is not how I expected my first few months of being retired playing out. 2020 has not been a good year so far, with my mother in law passing away in January and now the CORVID19 stay at home orders. So we try to get out of the house every couple days even if its just to run to the post office or to get a couple things from the store. Maggie and I take a walk every couple of days, it/'s good for us to get out. I am spending some time in the backyard working on my gardens and pond. I thought I would share some of my recent garden pictures in this blog: Most of these flowers are around the pond which has come to life this spring. So even when life seems to be challenging the flowers continue to grow and flourish. Maybe we need to be more like the flower and bloom. Until next time... Roger
