Filing copyrights

Two days ago I filed my first copyright. I did it as a collection so that I would not have to pay the $35.00 fee for each poem. Now I wait for 6 months until I get my certificate (although I am protected by the copyright laws immediately). So next the book ..... hopefully out in time for this Christmas

Puppy Dog Christmas

A Puppy Dog Christmas Puppy dog dreams of the day he just had The moon peeking through the winter night clouds The smells were marvelous of cinnamon and pine Boxes to investigate and shiny paper to rattle Visitors at the door, a howling hello A new toy, a new treat life is so grand Occasional belly rub, a pat on the head A puppy dog Christmas, a day to remember Puppy dog dreams of the day he just had copyright 2010© Roger Westeren I was watching my dog Bailey the other morning and this prose came to me. What does my dog think about at Christmas time.
Continuing in the same vein as the previous blog, I now am building off the first prose and refining my thought regarding the street people and what might be going through the thought process. Again rough ideas put down as rough poetry.... Rows of houses made of yesterday items Not the house you thought to expect Shelters of paper, a floor of rags Neighbors of crack whores, dealers and living dead Some choose this life, other unwilling No worries of investments, no concern of the markets Only thought today is will you make it to tomorrow No sending back not perfect meals, no selection of wines A half eaten sandwich makes a over stuffed meal Some choose this life others unwilling Community events, gathering of neighbors Tent city neighborhoods, Christian charities outreach A unlikely brotherhood rises a street wise phoenix Consort, create and befriend Some choose this life others unwilling all written words by Roger Westeren are protected by United States Copyright laws

You never know where inspiration will come from

You never know where inspiration will come from. For some reason I was thinking about those plastic painting drop clothes that you use when painting a room, when it came to me that a homeless person would use that for part of their shelter which made start thinking about what life for these people is like. Which prompted me to write the start of a new prose..... Cold invades the ground where life tries to survive Attempting to take whatever warmth that has been gained thru the day Plastic sheet over broken tree limb makes a tent like shelter Newspaper, cardboard and a discarded blanket used as shields to defend Onion like with layers of clothes, breaths cool grey fog Over and over this war continues threatening life itself Sleep , blessed sleep, for minutes at a time an escape reality As my eyes open each morning the battle for that night was won.* I have never quite understood how the brain works...... *Copyright © 2010 Roger Westeren

Welcome to R.S. Westeren blog

R.S.Westeren Studio & Gallery Multi-media Inspirational Art Photography, Prose & Poetry Welcome to R.S.Westeren Studio & Gallery. The thinking and the creative steps in creating the art of  Roger Westeren comes to life in this blog. Multi-media, poetry, prose, jottings, carvings, paintings and photography bringing a look at ourselves and the world we live in a odd and unique manner. At age 55 I decided to embrace my artist side of life. With camera in hand I now look for the beauty of our world and capture it digitally. For the most part the pictures you will see are what I saw when taking them. Some minor editing such as cropping will be done but no photoshop mechanics. Many times while taking a picture I see a story or a statement that is reflected in the vision. Whether you call my writing prose, poetry or as I call it "jottings" it is straight from the heart. Art is the way you look at life, I use poetry, prose and ramblings (I call "Jottings")
